Sooo......Active=FTW

I've only had one system and its active =)
Except mine required an external processor, lol.

You have to realize... look at my equip in my sig.

It's all noob stuff.

I just know a bunch of theories / trouble shooting from this forum.

once you get it close only make one minor change at a time, like a single freq boost/cut and listen for a few days on all types of music. that way you can be sure the change you made helped. It's too easy to change a bunch of things at once and lose track of your base tune //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and yes active is the shit. I've heard a lot of comp sets in the $500-1k range and none have impressed my like my $185 active set up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I can only imagine what I could do with some expensive drivers...

Active is when you split your hpf BEFORE amplification. Passive is when you split it AFTER amplification.
Edit: My 6x9s are also ran active =)
I believe you mean 'high-pass.' The F stands for filter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

It's Google time.

LOL!

Essentially when running 'active' you are eliminating the passive crossover and using either an external processor or one incorporated into a deck to control all the crossover points, slopes, etc.

Way sweet! You get to independently adjust all the crossovers separately for the mids, tweets, woofer in a 3-way setup like mine and get the best possible sound in your designated vehicle.

DO IT!

edit- Easier way to look at it....controlling the processing before the amp rather than after.

Its getting better each day! Ive finally been able to level out my tweets pretty good, it took a while to get them dialed in close since they're on the a-pillars.

The accuracy and clarity of the mids is just insane though. I know a lot of the difference is obsiously more power and twice the mids, but still. With what I have now I dont honestly think I would ever have to change a thing with my front stage. Not for me anyway, its all I need. Maybe swap out some tweets down the line but thats it.

Ill be there come winter. Thats going by my income rate, time for fabrication of the doors, and when the new 2 channel amp comes out. A pair of tweeters, mids, midbasses all at the front then the subs in back. I imagine it'll take FOREVER for me to tune it to what I like.
