The market changed for them.

Yea the old school sony really was quality high end ish, tis a shame.
Sony still does build some nice equipment. Not for car audio, but proaudio headphones, video equipment, mastering equipment, cameras, televisions, BR Players, ES Series SACD Players, ES Series Receivers, etc etc.

A lot of people hate Sony, but some of their products are still really good.

Those amplifiers look sick as hell. They were defiantly made to drive some current looking at the huge lines of copper (or is that some other presious metal?) on the Circuit boards.

yup everyone here loves to jump on bandwagons

I used a Sony amp that was about 2 years old, forgot the model number but it was rated at 1200rms@1ohm and did its job. I think I paid $150 used for it, wish I would of kept it now

That M1 has the same heat sink as the XM stuff from a long time back. I still have 3 XM-6020 in hiding.

Sony had great stuff, Their Componet Set I bought in 95 was the only one I could find with silk tweets, way better then anything my buddies had back then.

The ES lines by Sony are all very high quality, now if only they still made the ES car audio products. They still do make the ES line for HT recievers I believe.
