what's the general consensus on Sony xPlod subs? I can get 2 for 119.00 at circuit city and i'm not looking to spend too much money on my system. are they crap? if so, give reasons why.

well acidman does have a nice system, so i do respect what he has to say. from what i have gathered online, xPlods are alright - they are good bang for the buck, but still are in the entry-level arena for subs. they might just be what i'm looking for though, because i dont want to spend a crapload of money.

In my opinion, there are much better products out there for the same, or less, price.

There is much better for the price, you could get kicker comps for around that price and they will out perform them by far.

I would not take one for free...maybe to plug intoa wall socket or set on fire. Anyways, check out http://www.respl.com and call for direct pricing. Look into their RE line, like the re12's. Also, http://www.incriminatoraudio.com and look thier 187 series. Both will outperfrom the sony's by a long shot. peace

u can get kicker comp VRs or alpine type Rs around that price range and they will kill the P5, so just stay away from sony, peace

Can you please answer me this... Why do people like you post???? You are 1:dumb as hell 2:just a a**hole trying to get noob's to buy crap brands. You're post have no true value to them, why do you exist. All you seem to do is talk about how good your P5's are. If you 6 P5 15" in any car it is going to be loud. No brainer even if it crap brands. The true trick is to get a 12, or a 15 to sound like multiple 15's. Some one hears you "system" and you tell them you have 6 15"s and they will say, "well that makes since" but if you pull up with a single 12 that slams just as hard and they ask what you have and you say a singe 12 there are going to be like OMG!!!!! You have every right to post your own opinion but don't do it just for the reason to start a flame war to just to piss people off. It dosen't make you cool and you will get no respect from it. You will just be proving to eveyone exactly how ignorent you truly are...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not get me started on sony car products. There decks ****, I can name over 8 friends of mine who started with a sony deck and slowly everything goes... first the outputs... the screen... the controls.... and so on. There subs ****, yes there cheap, but not only are they cheap there the biggest POS subs, Sony may have one sub that is actually good but thats just ONE sub and that one sub is also alot of money. Dont get me wrong sonys products arent bad if they have nothing to do with cars, there protable cd plays dvd players and home entertainment systems arent that bad... but its like some crack head was put in charge of there car audio and doesnt know wtf there doing. I said how I can name alot of people with broken decks... well I can name alot with blown subs who didnt even put the full rms OR even anywheres near it and thye have blown/smoken/ and even caught on fire...

Just stay clear of sony unless you like there crack head stuff

Hmmm, my old deck was a Sony Mobile ES CA760, never had any problems with it for the 3 years it was in my car. It was my first HU but it sounded good and never let me down. That said I agree Sony produces a pile of crap for car audio, I do not like their subs and amps period. I think their decks are ok most likely because I haven't had any problems with that first one I owned, although I'd probably not buy another. Like everyone else has said you can find much better quality parts for the money.

I agree with ngsm13, definitely check out RE. I checked them out along with Image Dynamics, Elemental Designs, and Adire Audio. I ended up buying an ID8d2v3 from ID and 2 Adire Shiva's. BTW if you are still serious about those Sony's I'd look at their RMS ratings, because subs from any of the above will usually have a good RMS ratings (shivas are 650w RMS) and will definitely sound better than anything of Sony's that Circuit S**ty sells.
