Sony HU playing through USB strange problem..

I have a Sony CDX GT575UP. When playing through USB I noticed some of the songs clipping, however, when I play through an iPod via aux...there is zero clipping on the same songs.

Unfortunately, I discovered this after my sub was clipped to death...

Just curious if anyone else has had this issue. My USB stick is a 2.0 not sure if I need a 3.0 or what..
