Sony HU in Camaro

I have all speakers connected but haven't attempted any other wires.

I still have a black wire and a yellow wire connected to a 10A fuse

an orange, a blue, and a red wire. Ant remote and amp remote coming off the unit.

From the harness i have Ignition/acc(red) batt/memory(yellow)

positive dimmer(orange/white stripe) illumination(orange)

the amount of extra wires threw me off I dont want to blow this unit.

I don't know what you mean by extra wires...all modern HU's have the same wires you are describing it seems like you have answered most of your own question...

The only other wire is the black wire and that should be your ground wire...

oh and the blue wire should be your remote turn on lead, this connects to your amp ( if you have one)

you should double check all of these connections, find your HU manual and the diagram that came with your wiring harness and match them up...

Try using a different browser to look at whatever you can't get to come up...

Thanks for the reply but I got it connected.

I don't have a manual and the radio works good so far. The extra wires were the illumination and positive dimmer I hope I don't really need them.

My mid speakers on the side panel did not get hooked up I couldn't find the wires for them. I think it has something to do with the monsoon. There were two factory harnesses coming from the dash one was real small and I didn't seem to need it.

Please reply if you have any information.

yeah I am confused a bit I know illumination has to do with the dislpay and it's brightness level if you have a dimmer in your car that controls how bright the dash lights are you can match the brightness level of your deck display to the brightness level of your dash lights but to me illumination and positive dimmer are the same I'm sure there is a difference but I just dont know what it is....

I hooked up a cd changer and tape deck in my friends VW and he had the monsoon audio system, the other harness you mentioned is for a factory cd changer so you dont have to worry about it...I dunno what you mean by mid speakers on the side panel if they are factory speakers then they should be working, check your connections on the harness and as far as not having the manual you might be able to find a copy of it on sony's website or from someone else on this board who has the same unit, that would be the best way to go then you know that you are getting the most out of your deck and that your connections are correct...peace

You don't need illumination and positive dimmer, however they can have a 12 volt feed so make sure they are well insulated to keep them from grounding.

I looked at it a little more today and saw that the changer wasn't working, no big deal I wasn't using it anyway I also found a manual online.

The speakers i mean are mounted on the side panel between the front and back seat (there are 6 factory speakers) I tried to match the color of the speaker wire from the speaker to the console but couldn't find matching colors.

I'm not ready to pull any panels off so I will just ride with the four that are hooked up for now.
