sony decks... good or crap

i was looking at the sony CDX-M800 looks like a sweet deck but i could be wrong... let me knwo what u know

the other deck im lookin at is a pioneer 740mp would this be better?

i wouuld go with the pioneer deck personally.. the sony wont be a BAD deck. it will do the job. The old sony decks were suposedly awesome. I think a good rule of thumb is to just stay away ffrom sony when it comes to car audio.

the first deck i ever owned was a couple years ago when i got my license. Worked fine for a couple months.....than it broke. Sent it in under warranty and when it came back there was a sheet with it that said what was all fixed, it was a list of like 30 things. Now I own a pioneer. Much better

sonys deck line is absolute CRAP unless its the ES line

There was a time when Sony made some great stuff. Unfortunately, ever since the release of the Playstation, Sony has seen fit to ride on brand name loyalty alone instead of quality of product. Avoid Sony's car audio as if it were Pyle/Pyramid/Boss/Legacy.

I've had my CDX M630 for quite a while now and it is one of the best HU's I have owned.

I've had my fill of everything from Alpine, Panasonic, Clarion, Kenwwod, Pioneer, etc and Sony has never caused any problems, and has performed flawlessly above my expectations.

While IMO- the speakers and Subs leave some to be desired; the HU's and some of the amps are top notch.

I had an ES amp that was awesome did about 250 above rated and it was super clean.

My mom owned an ES headunit and it is still playing away.

My Sony is alright. I have had a ton of Sony decks in my history of car audio. Never had any problems with them. I think the SQ lacks and some models lack basic options. (My current one doesn't even have a pause button on it.) Personally I'm not a pioneer fan either. I'd go with a Clarion or Alpine. My next purchase is going to be a Clarion DXZ935mp.

Dont go with the pio if you need it for mp3s, its crap for that...if you need the mp3 feature get the eclipse 3413.

Alpines mp3s load just as fast as normal cds.
