Sony 1200 watt sub Question

Can I take the + of 2 1200 watt sony speakers and the - and hook them up to a bridge on a 1200 2 channel sony XM-2200GTX amp? will this cause any damage. How would I hook them up to the amp to get the most out of the amp? I want my speakers to bang I have faith I know they can do it, Should I hook them up to 2 ohm will that help and how exactly do iI do that? That amp does most power at a 4ohm mono load I believe?

i wouldn't personally trust Sony subs...as far as I could toss them...imo.

no you cannot... the amp is not 2 ohm stable bridged.. you'll have to wire them in stereo... the amp does not push a lot of power... but it can still sound decent...

and believe it or not... everyone here will bash sony but i install them all the time... at ccity we sell infinity... mtx... polk... and sony subs a lot...

mostly infinity and sony... if i sold 20 infinity subs and 20 sony p5's... i guarantee that at least 5 infinity subs would come back in less than 3 months... it happens all the time... i had 3 come back today... not due to faulty install though.. but they just don't hold up... 2 were blown and 1 the tinsel lead was in half... i haven't seen a blown p5 yet that i can think of... and we put over 500 watts a piece to 2 10's in a car and it's never been back... they really do hold up good... flame me if you want though....

yes i know it does... but that's BY 2... AND that's max power... that's 2 subs at 2 ohms each... these are 4 ohm subs... so you have to look at what it says at... x 2 @ 4 ohms RMS... and here it is direct from sony's website...

1200W max power

200W x 2 RMS into 4 ohms, 20Hz - 20kHz @ 0.1% THD

500W x 1 RMS into 4 ohms, 20Hz - 20kHz @ 0.15% THD

Class A/B

Variable 50-300Hz low pass filter

40Hz EQ boost

Line level through-put

MOSFET output stage & power supply

RCA & speaker level inputs

and direct from ccity's webpage...

Power (Watts RMS into 4 ohms x Channels) 200 x 2

Bridged power x Channels (4 Ohms) 500 x 1

you will get 200w x 2 @ 4 ohms... that should power them.... not the best but it will power them... that's the ONLY way you should wire it

wire one sub per channel... + to + and - to -... and the same for the other side... do not bridge

if you got sony... then you got sony, there not the best but guess what they still produce sound, so use them. so don't let people ***** at you, at least you got something right?
