sonosub port location (possible through side of tube?)

Hello,

I had built a sonosub enclosure to fit perfectly behind the rear seat in the trunk of my 09wrx with approx. 2" of clearance on each end. Would I be better off installing the port in the middle of the tube firing towards the rear of the trunk or install the port in the end cap (opposite of the sub) witch has 2" of clearance between the tube and the wheel well?? The enclosure dimensions are 12" I.D. x 36" long (figures out to 2.1 cf including displacement of sub (IDMAX12) and the 4 by 12 round port)

Would installing the port in middle enclosure have any effect to its performance vs. being on the opposite end of the enclosure (with the 2" of clearance)??

Thanks in advance.

Dave

You can install it anywhere on the tube. As it sits, the tube is 100% the same as a rectangular box with equal internal volume. I've used the sonotube ripped in half lengthwise and added a flat baffle for speakers before. You basically end up with a homemade version of JL's old microsubs.
