Hey guys also posted this in the general, but thought maybe i could get more feedback here? here it goes lol

Well just got a whole new sound system, which includes:

1 10" type R

alpine pdx.1.1000

front speakers(image dynamics)

JL 300/2 amp

the first day of installation the fuse behind the capacitor when out causing my sub and amp to stop working. Went back in, and they replaced it with a gold plated 80-100amp fuse(cant remember exactly). Since the pdx isnt even set to its max, the type R should be able to handle whats its giving it no problem. So 4 days later(today) the same thing happens...

It was doing fine, and all of the sudden the sub stopped working, including the amp shut off. Then a minute later it turned back on and shut off again when i turned up the volume. The speakers and JL amp still work fine btw..

Do you guys think there is something wrong with the sub? Any advice would be great! Im trying to enjoy my newly acquired sound system, but its been hell so far lol

running the 4 gauge kolossus installation kit from knu

and all other wiring was supplied by the shop that did my install

Hook a DMM up to the the sub and check the coil to see if its reading right. 4ohm or 2ohm ect.

IS the Alpine PDX-1000.1 over heating? does the amplifier have a good air flow running over it to keep it cool? I know those PDX amplifiers like to run a tad warm.

Is there any way you're wired for a 1-Ohm final impediance or lower? I'm not exactly sure that amp is stable that low. Could be just a simple impediance mistake?

well it was really hot out today, but i really don't wanna count this on the weather. Im just gonna have to send it back to the shop tom. and have them check it.

sorry im kind of a newb can you explain this to me? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

your sub will either be a 1242 or 1222 model. which one it is lets us know what the impedance works out to.

I think it's a 10" so it'll be either SWR-1022 or SWR-1042. Got your back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well started working again, but it will occasionally just shut off. What should my capacitor be reading? If it matters at all?

o and sorry my sub is 4ohm

your problem is that they maybe wired it wrong and everytime you play it at high volumes or some it causes your amp to go to protect mode(meaning too low on ohm load)....might wanna wired it diffrent and see if anything changes...

Sorry...forgot it was a 10" model.

Ok, so it's a 4-ohm sub. Either 2ohm or 8ohm at the amp.

I still think the fuse is too small, and if you are wired to 2ohm, the draw from the amp may be too much for that fuse. Or, the amp is going into protect.

Just my $.02
