Grizz Archer, the guy who used to work at PPI, mentioned that PPI P1000.1 is supposedly good for 1000watts RMS at 2ohm, but they got the power rating wrong and went ahead with the "underrated" specs because the "literature" was printed. The internally identical Soundstream TN1200.1D is supposedly rated correctly at 1050watts RMS power. It would be nice if some third party confirmed this. I had the mono block and 4-channel PPI Phantoms. Great little amps and never get hot. At 200 bucks a pop, they're a great value.

just ordered a soundstream reference 1.1000 brand new off online car stereo brand new cheap as dirt.. ill let you know how it is thanks for the help.

This is probably the best amplifier among those mentioned here. I saw in a 3rd party review that showed it has unbelievably low THD (good enough for tweeters..) and 920watt RMS output at 2ohm with 12.5V battery, so you can be sure you will get easily +1000 with 14.4V.

heres a question,
I have a pioneer deh-80 prs headunit, so its supposed to be putting out 6 v to the amp, what will happen If I get an amp that has the highest input voltage of 5 v ?

Probably nothing bad. I have this one too. You probably will get 6 volts when the head unit volume control is at the max setting and you're playing a 0db test tone. How often does that happen? Probably hardly ever. Don't worry. The only time I'd play a test tone is when setting amplifier gain, and then the volume will be at 3/4 of max or something like that.

Excuse the noob question but why don't you need a scope for this?

I've also been looking at this to upgrade from my ASPM-1500 when I get the cash, what do you guys think of this amp?

Here's a 2 ohm Clamp test of it with a ****** electrical

Clamp tests are inaccurate unless you use a scope to view both power and current. The formula guys are using for these clamp meter/DMM tests is for DC power, not AC power and they don't account for the phase shift between current and voltage. Using DC formulas to measure AC sine waves can get you as far as ~60% off from actual power output.

Reading chicken entrails would be about as accurate. ;-)
