i finished some final power maximizing tweaks in my setup yesterday

and i would have to say that i am finally happy with my HU and

substage. ive got my 15A in a great box slamming to bits. it sounds

great and powerful and aggressive...

switching the HU turned out to be the best thing i could have done. so

many of my previous issues couldve been cleared up without half

the aggrivation i endured with crappy LOCs and other weird gizmos

tapping dirty muddy signals...

its an odd yet liberating feeling that i DONT have to mess with it anymore...

well for the time being, til i decide its time for new gear... but i dont anticipate

that anytime soon...

now its on to the front stage... i have no idea what im going to do with

that though. i was thinking of a set of eD e6500s and a nine.2/4, but

honestly i dont even know if i need an amped comp set up front... my

fronts are LOUD enough now, but they are crappy stock speakers... if

the doors and tweets are as crappy looking as the 6x9s then they are

certainly due for an upgrade...

would just switching out the whole interior speaker set with maybe

an alpine type R comp set and 6x9s be a good way to go?

I'm happy with mine ATM. It sounds really good for what it is. It blows away the moajority of people systems away (Not most people here, but in the real world) in SQL. But it is not enough. It's getting replaced soon enough...

I'm never satisfied.

If you like the sound of the Type-R's, then go for it. But if you aren't going to amp atleast the fronts, I'd drop those down to co-axials aswell.

True car audio enthuasiasts are never happy, we all know that now.

you buy new equipment n you sell it for newer equipment, the cycle jus goes n goes n goes.

Well maybe you are happy.........for a bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

m always changing things around in my cobra trying to get it to sound perfect, but nothing will ever be perfect. that good sounding system wear off in a little bit and you start to notice what it lacks. right now i lack mid-range. but as far as the bass setup goes, i am pretty happy. i love my h2 and my 1000/1's

I have to be happy with my setup. I can't afford much better. I see myself replacing the subs in the future, seeing as I can now successfully power two Brahmas or RE XXXs. But that's a helluva lot of money, so if I did, they'd have to last for years. (Hence, IA subs ATM)

by all means im not DONE with my system overall... i just feel like i am

finally happy with the sub stage and can now comfortably move on to

the interior without the frustration that the sub isnt as perfect as it

can be as things stand at this time...

over the passed few months ive constantly had some dissatisfaction

and constant need to "fix it" looming over me... i didnt want to start

messing with anything else til i got at least the first part "right"... now

that it is "right" it just feels like a great accomplishment and now i can

move on...

im sure once i start messing with other stuff ill discover what else

can be made "better"... and certainly im not going to run the same

sub/amp/box combo for the life of the car... but at this time i have

no desire to change it... which is great... i dont have to buy or sell

any more subs... lug sheets of wood from home depot... worry about

carpeting... box volume... SSF's... LOCs...

i will say that the HU will probably have a good long life in the car though...

my last HU lasted through 3 different cars and finally just stopped accepting

discs on my last car... i replced it with a 99$ junk pioneer just to have

music in the car... but the 860 is just a marvelous HU... maybe when

there is a significant upgrade to it ill look into that... but for now i just

want to get my ipod hooked up and that will be that...

SQUEAK... i just said the Type-Rs because its a common and probably

acceptabe easily obtained and relativly cheap upgrade... is there an

overwhelming opinion that they sound bad???

is there anything for just a straight swap on interior components that

anyone would recommend???

thanks.

i dont have any subs installed right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gifim definitely not happy with it

Blah. Wussy......I haven't had subs in for 2.5yrs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

However, that streak should end this weekend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

It'll be wierd to listen to songs again and (*gasp*) actually have some bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

no, I'm not happy with mine yet. I think I finally have my components where I want them but my sub just sounds bad now =/. Than again I don't have my 1100D hooked up to it anymore but whatever. I'm about to buy a new alt, than new amp, than I can finally get a new sub.

to sum up, I like my comps, I'm just lacking the bass as of right now.

My system is completely shatty. Totally shatty.

I mean look at my system! I spent like a total of 300 bucks on the whole thing and I got SCREWED, to put it mildly...

The single 12" Rockford is enough to get the roof to flex. The 3 1/4 inch Optimus (Radio Shack) tweets are enough to cut the treble mustard (I hot glued them to the back speaker grilles on the strut towers). The 5 1/4 infinity mids are enough to fill the mids, paired with the front stock speakers for a touch of extra "detail"...

THe volume button is broken on the HU, so it will randomly go up or down whenever it feels like it, complements of a drunk friend hitting his head on it... While trying to adjust the volume while holding a beer in each hand.

I have the RCA run through a Radio shack selector switch, designed originally to swirtch between audio sources, as I have another amplifier (which blew, to say at the least) which powered the tweets and mids.

I have a Wal mart capacitor- Virtual Reality Sound labs. Piece of shit.

But is sounds good- even better than when I had 1000 dollars of equipment in a better sound deadened car.

Go figure.
