At what point will a head unit begin to clip? Does anybody know?

Of course, you know i use a pioneer head unit and the volume goes to 62.

I have my orion amp gain set at 50%, and i turn the volume up on the head unit to 56/62 at it's peak. Is this a sign that my gain is set too low? I hear no distortion though, but i think it's unusual that i can turn my HU volume all the way to 56/62.

Any thoughts?

In general around 3/4 max volume
wheres the proof to that? Not that i don't believe it, but is there any proof to this because as you probably read above, i can go to 90% with very little or no distortion.

I'm guessing my gains are too low then or something since i can get it to 90%

just about all of the pioneer's I've put on an oscope clip @ full volume, so set your gains on vol 61/62.
would this happen to include the pioneer premier 8000 double din? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
