So whats hot nowadays?? (New Member)

Let me tell you about Best Buy...
I am in, just browsing and such. Guy walks up to the sales guy and said that his parents bought him an amp for his car but he had never heard of the brand and was wanting to see about trading it in for a brand name he knew.

So the salesman asks what the brand name was.

The kid says Zapco.

The salesman said he had never heard of it before and it was probably an off brand. So the salesman said take a look around and find something he liked and they would work out a deal.

I walk over to the guy and ask him what series it was, if he knew. The kid tells me it is a DC1100.1. The kid was wanting to trade it in for some 600 watt monoblock amp, retailed for 500 or so i think.

I then informed the dude of the MSRP of the zapco....he about flipped. The kid ended up telling the salesman to kiss his ***.

Good stuff.
Not every person in car audio knows nice brands, alot of people are told what the best is and its their job to sell it reguardless.

SONY is really hot this days.

SONY is way better than Fi, RE, SI Mag.

thanks for that, I was serious
I typed "fi car audio" in dogpile and got no results involving their website.
no problem. Search engines ****. If they produce anything usable, it's always on like the 6th or 7th page because they list the sites of their sponors first. If I can't easily find a company's site through a search engine, I just try different combinations of the company name, car , and audio.

Mach 5 Audio, SoundSplitter, Ascendant Audio, TC Sounds

AMPS: Zed, Zapco, Arc, Audison, Sundown, the Zed amp's are some the best SQ amps out there for the money, and add some sundown for your amps, very beefy system. Or go old school: Soundstream Reference, PPI Art & PC series, old crunch, a/d/s (mids and highs amps), old Zed amps, old optidrive lanzar, yes I said lanzar. I have a PPI PC4400, sound quality is outstanding, really want an old a/d/s 6 channel pq15? I think was the model. But your right best buy's stereo equipment is pretty shitty except for maybe a head unit.

Mach5 has some unreal deals on there sub line, while there not really SPL subs, the MJ18 sounds astounding for a SVC 18, very accurate. I have installed one on 400w of power, 3.6cf sealed in an suv and it sounds unreal and gets really loud. They are soon going to offer an SPL sub on a budget around 30mm xmax, real nice looking sub.

Ascendant Audio is a great company that is partnering with FI to help with production, but I have a 10" assassin in a small sealed box and it really sounds great, an awesome compliment to my a/d/s components.

TC sounds tc-1000 line is a great bang for your buck line if you can give the speaker some cf. Currently building a tc1000 15 in a 10cf ported box tuned to

16.5hz for home threatre. It has an unreal virtually flat response in a large enclosure.

In my opinion FI, RE, etc. subs are nice but the pricing is starting to become to retail for me.

I would argue with a lot in the list above but its totally subjective. Certain people like certain brands. If you can get away with a 50 dollar sub and love it.. more power to you.. but if you spend 500 dollars on a sub.. not everyone is going to like it just because of its price tag. As far as Best Buy equipment.. first of all they are employees and even if they think the stuff is trash they have to try to make a sale.. that's the whole point of them being there not to tell you about RE subs and Focal comps which they don't carry. Honostly, if you know how to do a good install you can get just about any speaker at Best Buy or anywhere for that matter and make it sound pretty nice.

I don't agree with that list. Some of it is on par, but it's very hard to say that a certain company is Higher class than others. Various companies make products targeted for various users, price-ranges, performance, etc. Take Phoenix Gold for example. They make Octane series which are "average", but the Xenon series is very high up there.

I understand what you were doing with the list, I'm just pointing out that it's pointless to categorize all the companies in CA by class. It is all relative to your needs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
