so what makes SQ..SQ?

and wouldny accuracy all depend on the amp if the amp can keep up with the beats? or no? am i completely off?
No. Not at all. If your amp has a major effect on sound quality; then it's broke.

Tonal quality; How close the speaker sounds to what it is reproducing. If you are playing an organ track, it should sound like an organ and not like a subwoofer. Etc etc.

SQ is listener dependent, to an extent - our personal opinions shape what we want our system to sound like, but faithful reproduction of the source material is key.

I'd say true sound quality doesn't have anything to do with a listeners perception. It's benchmark would be sounding exactly like it's original source material. For practical purposes howerver, coloring the music is always nice.

Well, I don't know too many tube fairies running lights to their subs in a car. So, I excluded tubes from my generalization //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

For solid state; yes, if the amp has a major effect on the sound quality, something is seriously wrong. Either the amp is pure crap, or it's broke.

You are confusing preference with the definition of sound quality //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

SQ is NOT listener dependent. It's accurate reproduction of the source material. Preference, however, will vary by personal opinion.

Even MOSFETs running in SE Class A will sound better than A/B...just has to do with the reproduction of the waveform.

I'll concede that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Show me 1 person running a Class A on their subwoofer in a car. That whole 25% maximum efficiency thing generally kills the urge for most people.

Not to mention; there are measureable differences. Don't mean they're always audible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I'll admit, on a measurement basis the waveform from a class A can be more pure. But, from an audibility standpoint, especially considering that this conversation is centered around the subbass frequencies......highly unlikely. In fact, I'd place a monetary sum of money on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

Wait, squeak, you lost me on definitions. Last I knew SQ *was* dependent on preference, where Accuracy was how close the output is to the input.

Sound quality, pure and simple, is how accurately the source material is reproduced. There is no subjectivism, opinion or personal preference here. Either the system accurately reproduces the source (good sound quality) or it doesn't (poor sound quality).

Now, whether or not you prefer how something sounds is totally different (and irrelevant to true sound quality). If you like 145db of bass with only 110db of highs and that is not how the source material is recorded, then that is NOT sound quality no matter how you look at it. That's your personal preference, however.

I, aswell as many others, have went over that several times on this forum.

So You mean to tell me that in SQ competition, reference material is run through an analyzer that records every nuance, down to 1/3 octave resolution (or better hopefully). Then, for each "competitor run" the same analyization system is used on their vehicle? from the listeners position? Then the two bits of outcome are overlayed, and whomever / whichever competitor's output most closely matches that of the source material... wins?

[/n00bfight]

Now, that very well could be the case, but I have never even heard an inkling of that, so I am curious.
