So.. some people are more important than others?

That's what I was thinking. But you'd have to assume they'd all have $20. And since it's so poor there, they probably wouldn't. This is getting confusing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Umm, the answer is in your first post. You are asking about the media. What did your grandmother (may her sould rest in peace) and any one of our family members that have passed away (may their soul rest in peace) have anything to do with the media? Absolutely nothing.

The media knows there are plenty of people out there who glorify celebrities and whatnot...maybe media is not to blame, maybe its the tards who are so deeply involved with the celebs and get a hard-on from every info on a celeb. I work at city hall in Glendale, CA and just a couple months ago Nicole Ritchie was supposed to appear in court and they had all these news reports and a huge crowd outside. It was stupid, because what's the point of seeing her? Just so one can say "ooh i saw Nicole Ritchie". Big fvckin whoop dee doo, doesn't make you any better or cooler of a person. It's not the media that does this, its the dumb fvcks that praise the celebs. Funny thing is, she never showed up

And all this racism and crap, of a certain area or race being better than another is plain retarded. You could be a dumbfvck in the wealthy area but how does that make you better than someone who is smart and has something goin for them in the ghetto or whatever? Where you live and what race you are doesn't mean sh*t, it's who you are and what you do, your knowledge, skills, and abilities that make you better or more worthy than another person.

Back on topic, there actually are people that are more important than others. Every person is worth something, at least economically speaking. Your "worth" or significance of life depends on many factors, some which include knowledge, your education, your capabilities, your financial income and your networth, as well as your position.

It is a sad fact that in this society if a celebrity or person of great wealth (recently, for example, sean taylor but just to prove my point people such as princess diana, etc.)
why is it that because of someone's fame, their death seems more significant than say your own mother, or my mother, or anyone for that matter?

why is it that the media puts attention on celebrities like that?

it's sad, really.

my history teacher back in highschool made a valid point, a point that i was actually awake to hear:

his point was basically that in the United States what is the majority of society/media focused on? negativity. celebrities. who paris hilton is blowing in the back of her benz. why britney got a hair cut. to contradict that he said the majority of european countries don't focus on celebrities/wealth NEARLY as much as americans/american media. is this true? i dont know but

and for example this sean taylor thing is going to linger in the news for DAYS. how come my grandmother couldn't make front page cnn news when she died? cause she didn't play ****ing football? give me a break.

we're all human, we're all equal.
Kill yourself and see if you make the news.

not to sound like a dick but quite frankly more people care about sean taylor (or any other famous person for that matter) than they do your mom, my mom, etc....if more people know of you more people are going to care if you die....its really that simple.

i mean same thing happened in high school, elementary school , etc..... when something happened to the popular people everyone cared or gossiped about it......but if the nerd in the corner broke his nail or got dumped no one cared....

we're all human, we're all equal.
No we aren't. Some people are better than other people. Some people are fucked when they enter the world, others are not. America celebrates celebrity, and has done so for at least the last century. If you think Europe is better, I'm sure they will let you in if you can get there. Your grandmother passed away, and I am sure that it was a tough time for you. But no one knew her on a national level - that is why it is not on TV.

lol you guys don't get it,people are murdered daily here like in most cities. pittsburgh is not a HUGE city, but given it's size, a murder or two a day isn't uncommon.

guy was waiting at a bus stop. 4 black guys came up on him, asked him for his money, he declined, was shot and killed, and robbed.

people don't give a ****. and to the rich prick who said he would "send his assistant".. you'll send your assistant because you're a ***** mother****er

anyway, i understand it makes money. i know thats the REASON why they do it, im talking about when it comes to equality..

but **** it. i dont really care. ****ing media. and **** steve jobs too while im at it
Lawl - that is just not true. Not only is it not uncommon, it will never ever happen. Look up the FBI statistics on murder per capita. No one is killed in the same city a couple times a day - anywhere. What you will find is that the highest cities with murder per capita are Detroit, Memphis, and my hometown Sumter, SC. Not Pittsburgh. It may be tough in Pittsburgh, but it is tough everywhere, and no one gives a ****. See here - http://www.theitem.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071025/ITNEWS01/710250010&SearchID=73300761961884

- everyone is created equal, and wealth does put you in your place here in society, but just because of wealth doesn't mean you are a better person because of that. if you think that it's people like you who need to be murdered rather than the innocent people tryin' to get by.

and first, i'm not claiming that living in pittsburgh is some "hard life" or some shit, i never have claimed that. people take what you say here wayy too literally. i know there arent TWO murders a DAY here. but in a given week, seeing 1-2 people murdered over STUPID shit isn't uncommon.

second, i'm proud of where i came from. i came from nothing. i live in a part of town where houses can range in the 60-100k range. the poor neighborhoods / crime neighborhoods, the houses normally range 5-25/30k.

we are moving to the country and building a house, i might get an apartment in pittsburgh, or rent this house out. i dont know, but there are A LOT of parts of pittsburgh with a ton of violence

ive been to the hood. ive been to "traps", and its some disgusting *** shit to be honest. in my short time alive ive seen some shit now.... walkin in to see a chick givin 2 dudes head, drugs all over the table, guns laying out, money everywhere, scales, the smell of crack.. i did some stupid shit when i was younger, i wasnt involved in any of it but i was present there - not something i really wanted to do.

people make choices in this life... some choices make people "better off financially" than others, but all in all, we all are the same thing. and equal.

and to the prick *****es who think they're "better" than someone because of their wealth, tell me, how much better would you be staring down the barrell of a gun? at that point, you have nothing. nothing else matters. try having your life in danger some time, you'll have a different perspective after that. ive been there already.
