I have other uses for the jigsaw. Im building amp racks and flush mounting things. My current jigsaw wont do a straight cut at all. The blade holder doesnt keep the blade from flexing. The entire saw is jittery and jerks/jumps and vibrates heavily during use. It's nothing like the good jigsaws i've used at work.forget the jigsaw...
watch ebay for a couple days and grab a high quality used router for 50 bucks shipped... you can make a circle jig with a regular *** piece of wood and... theres your box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
personally, i'd decide on a height for the box, build the bottom with fiberglass, cut a piece of wood to fit the contour of the bottom of the box across the front (think template + router or jigsaw + sanding), and another for the back, then make sides and attach a flat top piece...
i'm also a fan of shimming the seats for extra mounting depth...
As for all that other stuff. Fiberglass = more work and cost. I get free 3/4" mdf. I dont have anything thinner than 3/4" though. Thats a problem seeing as I cant make a circle jig out of that. I dont get free resin and glass. + I dont have a respirator so thats out of the question. In the future i'd like to learn to glass but for now thats just a pipedream.
Still deciding on things. If I were to get the jigsaw I could feasabily finish one of my amp racks in under a week. I still dont have my subwoofer amp so my subbox can be put on hold for the time being. My next big purchase is going to be front components.
Really. I have to talk to my brother about it. See what he wants.
