so I started my four RE MX 12's build today (pix)

I say you're an idiot.
Dale had 2 2500d's on his... and they were STARVING for power... even in like... 3.5cubes EACH...

I'd give them 2000+ rms each. Other than that... looks great.

nG

They weren't starving for power when dale had them in his wall. they were no louder with 4000+ watts per sub than they were with 1500 watts per sub (I tested it to see if power was the issue) And when he was talking to RE about boxes for them the reccomended a small box with very little port area like Jason has built.

Hell my box w/ 4 12's is smaller than this one with the same port area and I am only 10db louder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

thx bigbangtheory...

and toby, yeah i dont know about this. i'm going to try this same box with different ports. longer, shorter, etc etc... and yes, 10db louder... i wish i could have two SS6500's to test with, I bet those would gain me a bit.

I will be trying a two 12 box, and a three 12 box, its just a matter of time

took one of the subs out, not loud lol...

this box just sucks for what it is, four 10's in it would be awesome i'll say that.

If I inverted every sub I would gain nearly a cube of airspace, that would probably help alot... i'm about to go and invert the front two that wont smash my back hatch class to shit and see what happens. That will gain me nearly .5ft^3.

I inverted the subs and it still sucks.

LOL

The box just isnt good... **** **** ****!

I am not going to use four 12's in my ride, but I do have another face so I could just slap it over the top and cut out four holes and then the port holes would be sealed up and i'd have roughly 5 cubes of airspace for 4 subs... hmmmmmmm

I REALLY think the bracing inside the box is causing all kinds of problems, its big and gaudy and takes up too much space and probably causes more harm than good.

at the risk of sounding ignorant, what did you mean by EBP = 43

?

Thx

its not the box...its looks good and im sure its sealed up right and braced accordingly...u just need more efficient subs...if u want to be louder than ur current setup...i garantee if u put more efficient subs in there with the same power u will be alot louder

ebp=43 means its geared more towards a sealed box than ported

Sealed box (and sealed bandpass) woofers should have the following characteristics:

  • Qts => 0.40
  • Fs
  • Xmax => 4 mm

Vented or ported box (and ported bandpass) woofers should have the following characteristics:

  • Qts
  • Fs
  • Vas should be relatively low (less than 4 cubic feet unless enclosure size is not a factor).

An additional calculation to help you determine the proper enclosure is the efficiency bandwidth product. This is figured by dividing the Fs value by the Qes value. If the result is close to one hundred, a vented enclosure is the right choice. Closer to fifty means this driver will function best in a sealed alignment.

The best results (widest passband) for bandpass subwoofers are obtained when the Fs value divided by the Qts parameter is ninety or higher.

I got 1 ported TDX in my RSX and its pretty loud,I cant even begin to imagine

what that sounds like, not to metion you'll rattle the fenders off the car..

as far as the weight,250 lbs in the trunk is no worry

i'll sell them all if people want to pay the ebay asking price of like $450 + shipping lol

and yes it rattles a bit, but its not really all that loud, considering what is in it...

I will, I'm going to just cover up the port holes and see how it does.

its not loud enough though, i'll be honest with that. a 47 at the kick with my TL is an absolute atrocity afaiac... I'm embarrased!
