So I just talked to Boston Acoustics Tech Support....

....and he told me not to go active. He said he doesn't recommend it to even the highest skilled installers. He said by taking out the passive crossovers i will never be able to achieve the same ( or better) sound quality. So, I am asking you guys....is he telling the truth or is he just bullshitting me?

And for the people that have the pro 60 series what are your crossover points and slopes? Thanks for any help!

Well he's kind of telling the truth. It's just debatable whether or not some kid that goes active can get the x-over slope and frequency to the point where the tweeters and mids blend together better than some engineer that is paid a ton of mony to get them to sound right.

Personally I see active as a DIY solution only. If I am putting together X tweeters with Y mids.... there is no set passive x-over out there for THAT XY combo. So I have to run active so that I have the flexibility to get the x-over right over time...instead of building 50 passives until I find a good one.

Well said. I agree, if you buy a component set that comes with passive xover, especially from the likes of Boston... I'd trust their engineering.

Now if you select/buy the drivers yourself... then I would go active.
