If you know how to budget things correctly you can live off of 1200 dollars a month. That's pretty close to what I"m making, hell probably a little more.

I'm making it just fine and have some change left over to spend on toys here and there.

edit:

ok well I take that back....if I actually worked 160 hours a month I'd be making 1586 but I don't actually work full time soooooooo....lol. That's before taxes as well.

selling preowned GM's at the dealership here...1200 base pay per month PLUS commission. IIRC if i sell 10+ cars in a month, i get 5% of each sale. so say i sell 10 cars totalling 80k in that month, thats 4000 in just commission on top of 1200 base pay...

Nice job....I wasn't sure what the base pay was for car salesmen.

And since you are at a dealership, you gain some legitamacy.

Also remember quick math...

Say a customer is considering buying a 10,000 car and you are allowed to sell it at any price above 8.5k.

Say the customer offers you 9k. I wouldn't even try to negotiate 9.5k.

Here's why:

10,000 * .05 = $500

9,000 * .05 = $450

9,500*.05= $475

Why risk losing the sale over $25?
