Smoking Tweeter

Well, it's been awhile, and I need some help/advice. One of my tweeters today started making this horrible sound and smoke started coming out. Turned it off immediately, and I had been playing on very low volume at that moment. These are HAT Clarus tweeters btw ran active on an extant 4180c. They've been working pretty much perfectly since I put them in over a year ago. After hesitantly testing again after checking the connections to it and the amp, no luck. Worse yet my other tweeter just stopped working a few minutes afterwards with no apparent reason. Testing everything with the dmm revealed that the tweeters read 0 and my amp seemed to be working right. It had been making weird noises when I tried playing with just the one tweeter, but I took a closer look and they stopped. My only guess is that maybe it was just overheated. All in all I'm very confused and upset. Mainly over the "good" tweeter not working. So I now have 3 non-working Clarus tweeters. (Originally they sent me one that wouldn't work, read 0 on dmm) can I get any money for them? Any ideas as to what happened? My mids are still working fine obviously sounding weird without tweeters. Should I start shopping?

***** man. I've smoked my share of tweeters when I first went active. Luckily I used a local dealer so I always got them replaced even though it was my fault. Have you always taken care of them? Sometimes abuse does not show till later on.
