yeah subs and amps both have a pretty distinct smell when they burn try putting your nose to the amp and see if you smell what the smoke smells like and the same for the subs if you wanted to take them out... defiantly check the gain and bass boost settings

watt ratings are crap in car audio, there is no standard to be judged like home audio which is governed by UL, so you can not ever compare rated watts from one product to another, fq measured, voltage input ect all have to be the same and never is !

I had my F11 up pretty high just to show off but that was only for a bass tester then I turned them back down. My setting adjustments we're all from the head unit, nothing toooo serious.. My four channel is up pretty high.. i never thought about that til now. Can't remember there being a distinct smell, my car smelled funny after install but not smokey. i had a rear view pine so that doesn't help.. i'll look into all this. any and all opinions are welcome.

a little suggestion... if you are not familiar with setting amp or whatnot i wouldnt change the settings from what the "professional" set them at unless there is a problem there is a reason for why it was set where it was and not any higher

If you saw smoke, something was damaged...there's no such thing as "warning" smoke, lol

i can imagine somethings hurting in my trunk.

I'm more concerned about what it is so i can address it.

I only adjusted the gain & bass boost on my amps, I nervous knowing i didn't know much else so i didn't mess with anything else. I've turned my settings back to where they originated. still haven't worked them out since the smoke signals. i'll be going to get it checked out in a bit and look more info up so I can avoid something like this again. You haven't heard the last of me.. I plan to have a good grip on this stuff here soon.
