smelling subs

ok today i smeled my coils heat up and when i pulled my subs all looks good still plays well but if i heat the coils like that enough to smell but all looks good will it effect the subs proformace later? they still read 0.5ohms on the tester

yea the coils will weaken. your over powering the subs.

What subs are they? Type R's are notorious for getting stanky...

treo csx 18" x2 and im running a rd audio d9 to them about 5krms set with a dmm

Are they new i heard new subs will do that.
