hey guys,

ive been getting this smell from my DD T1510's i just put in maybe 3-4 days ago. they should be broken in by now. i have put about 16-17 hours on them but after playing them for a while im getting a burning smell . my buddy has a dd 2512 that has the same smell and hes had his sub for a year. i felt the dustcap and the cone to make sure it wasnt too hot and it was just a little warm. am i putting too much power to them? is this normal?

thanks,

-eric

3-4 days will not be enough time to fully break in a dd sub. If you friend is still smelling his after a year of use he is probably clipping his amp. When new they will smell a little but it tends to go away unless your are over driving the sub or clipping the amplifier. All clipping does is produce heat.
