I am looking for a very small program that uses little system resources when not rendering video. The only thing I want it to do is allow me to take raw AVI files from my camera, and encode them to MPG or AVI compressed, where I specify the exact parameters, such as resolution, bitrate, etc.
I am not looking for editing capabilities, just to encode/re-encode to different compressed formats of which I specifically choose. If I want to edit I will do it on my desktop PC with some good editing software. I just want simple conversion to run on my laptop so I can copy and convert from my camera with ease on the go.
I am talking something like Windows Movie Maker. What I like about it is very little system usage when not rendering. However I do not like wmv format, and Movie Maker will not let me specify exactly what resolution I want or what bitrate. Instead it gives me a list of different options, none of which I like.
Does anyone have any suggestions that may be what I am looking for?
