small problem with sub amp

Ive got an s2000 with alpine hu 9851, dls up6 components. one small alpine amp putting about 110w rms or so to each. Then for sub I have 1 10w6v2 powered by an alpine mrp-650 i would say im running about 500wrms to the sub.

Anyways on to the problem, I have amps gain so that I hit my max volume at about 25 on the hu. When I go this high and even sometimes around 23, 24 my sub amp will just cut out. It wont go back on unless I turn the radio off then on again and works

perfectly once again, what could be going on here??

Any help or input would be appreciated.

going in to protect probably . the light on the amp turn red when this happens?

Adjust your gain so that the max volume is higher, you are probably clipping your amp and your not noticing the distortion in the speakers.
