This is my 3rd box I've done, but still new to it. My main problem was the miter cut on the "side" pieces. I didn't have a miter saw, so I used the table saw. I used the miter gauge but as I was cutting it, the sides started to move. So it wasn't a straight cut. Had to bust out the jigsaw. This is my 1st box doing angles. Still learning to use the miter gauge. Design is by IONSQL.

What do y'all think and any advice if you have any.

HU: Alpine DVA-9861

Subs: 10'' JLW6v2

Amp: JL500/1 w/remote for Bass EQ.

Front sp: Still stock for now.

FacePlate:

Behind FacePlate....amp on left did not work, so took it out. Haven't decided on new amp for fronts yet. As far as where the amp scews down to, I forgot to cut out "nice" holes for wires. So I just used the drill. No one will see them anyways.

just fyi, that MDF you used to support the amps most likely will not hold and the amps will fall off.

mdf is not a good structrual support when used in that fashion. it will most likely end up splitting.

and i would have preferred the use of carpet on the backside of the baffle.

It looks pretty stout to me. All holes were predrilled. It's screwed into baffel. Those support braces are MDF and are on both sides. As far as carpet, I just did it that way so I wouldn't waste that much carpet. I see your point, it would look alot cleaner & nicer, but I figured no one will see it. As far as amps, I wanted them behind baffel. What would of you've done for an amp rack back there?

used some plywood for start. screws bite into it much eaiser. id of taken some 1x1's and scrwed them to the baffle you made, and then build the rack for the amps, maybe use 2x4 cut at angles on the end to support the amps. and screwed them in from the sides of the 1x1 and the back thru the baffle.

amps are heavy. when you go over train tracks, those mounts wont like it. id want them a bit more beefy than just mdf + screws.

Looks pretty good.

I've used MDF as a support for amps and I've never had a problem with it, even on bigger amps.

Working on a house so what little time I have goes to this. Gonna try to glue tomorrow using clamps and w/out screws for 1st time. Not sure if I'm gonna do the front baffel. I'll probably draw something up tomorrow at work. More pics tomorrow hopefully.

it looks good. Only thing that is not pretty on it is the wear on the paint job of the front baffle but that comes without stopping it pretty much, the carpet job inless you fold that seat up,and that lightning audio bolt amplifier, and i can get over that. Looks good keep us posted

That BOLT amp is ditched. Will run fronts from HU for now. Here is my other idea for amp rack. What do y'all think.

Don't see why his amp racks won't work as I would think the sub itself would give the MDF more of a beating.

Looks like you could always drill all the way through and use nuts/bolts to hold the amps on.

the support arms on the amp mounting plate appear to be holding by only 1 screw per side. If the mounting board were mounted to the wall at the top by means of a bracket i would have more confidence in it. (simple procedure) I'd also suggest at least 2 screws per side on those mounting arms.

Otherwise, the design looks good. I like the sub box.

Kinda of leaning towards the design I did for amp rack above. I'll know when I glue the box together today, hopefully. I just might make some better braces.

Update:

Box is built, not carpeted yet. Used a little glue as you can tell. Wasn't thinking and I went ahead and put in the sp wire terminal before carpet. Took it off of course. Keeping the front baffel, but will have a BETTER and STIFFER amp rack. Hope to get it done today, if not tomorrow. It's not perfect, but getting the hang of it.

1st time routing edges. Had to practice on a piece before I did it on baffel. I might redo it using a 1/2'' bit. One I used is 3/8''.

Done for the mean time. 2nd amp will be added later this year and wire will be cleaned up. Didn't take to many pics....just forgot. Redid entire front baffel. Looks the same though. You can't see them in pics but the support arms are alot bigger(no gap between top of base and supp arms). I'll take bettter pics tomorrow. Total of 16 screws were used for each side.

If you look to the top left of amp, you'll see a bolt to hold front baffel to box. Total of 4 bolts, 2 on each side. Cut a gash above that bolt as you can see, oh well.
