Ok left my other cam in NY, so will have to due with these pics so far...

Just wood..

Box is 4.4 gross, custom made to fit the 07 Maxima (6th gen)

Will be glassing the front in a few days!

There is a 3rd baffle piece that fits on top, to cover the mount holes, and is the piece i will actually be glassing to. It's a 2 part front. Those to will mount to the top piece using 3/8" 5/8" t-nuts and 3" bolts AND nuts!

Also will have some acrylic in the mix for lighting (that's for later)

Thought i'd give yall a lil update..... might have seen some already..... in the other thread...

This is how i'm resolving the issue of hiding my mount holes, WHILE allowing for easy change of sub.

The top baffle will be glassed in with the removable top. Mount the sub into the bottom baffle.

Will sandwich a acrylic sheet in there to give it some light around the surround.

This is how it'll sit in. Got it hot glued in.

Test Fit, Notice it sits higher then the box, i changed my mind when i was gluing, added 3/4" to the elevation, which i'll go back and add pieces to fill. Did this mainly because needed more room in back to easily glass JUST the back of the box and not have to do any glassing to the top piece, just resin/prrep/paint.

Also, i felt it needed more depth

Thats the lycra on it, b4 the "accident". I've since went with Fleece, u'll get those pics next post.

2 layers of 8oz FG Cloth

How many layers of 8oz would i need? Only was able to do half, ran out of material, so i re up, should finish later this week. Thinking 3 layers is enough...

Question....

I had originally intended on JUST glassing the section that I cut out, as seen in the above pics. Had it rabbeted n all....

But after messing up on the fabric.... while attempting to staple the fleece, I had to resort to using the outside edge of the top piece.

Now my question is.... should i just resin that piece as well? Or Cut out the extra?

I'm thinking of just resining down the extra , so i don't have to worry about blending it later on.

These are the pics with the middle piece resined, and the extra ot resined.

What was "the accident"? And just about fiberglassing in general how do you know tha internal volume of a fiberglass enclosure before you actually make it and then stuff it with something to measure the volume?(Esp. with lost of curves and stuff) Are you guys using calculus to measure the volumes of these things?

Thx guys... more to come

run that bish inverted fewl
That another reason why i slanted it up..... in case i wanna MOON ppl! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Was using Lycra..... didn't pull enough!

Well, the 4.4 is the vol of the box itself, as in if it was a straight top piece.

so i added some vol to offset the FG shape i'm adding.

I plan to fill in the top part with peanuts, and use that to best guess how much vol it takes up.

Packing peanuts is one way of finding the vol of irregular shapes, you could use sand, or the BEST water..... but as u know water n MDF don't mix well.

Then measure the peanuts in a square/rectangular box, count how many you fill = Y, then get vol of box times Y

looks good so far. i may have missed it but are those holes in the top for ports? decided on a tuning?
Correctamundo!

2x 3" - tuned low... thinking 28-35ish, haven't figured it out yet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i love 35 hz tuning.
you picked a finish?

Welll..... not sure yet!

I'm planning on placing a plexi piece on top of this piece (layer 1), layer 2 of the top. Then lighting that. It would hang slightly over the edges. Then another layer, layer 3, on top of that, same as layer 1, out of 1/4" MDF.

So i was thinking maybe flocking the layer 1 like a red, and sueding the layer 3, black. Or vice versa.

Going for a black/red theme.
