small box, big subs.

Well if you really must know, I'm planning on double up all the sides that are going to be mdf. And the glass I'm probably going to layer up to an inch thick. Bracing all sides into the center of the glass mold each way, up, down, across, you name it. I prefer using glass over mdf so it sits better in my trunk, takes up as little space as possible and maximizing volume efficiency. I can't picture the glass being a big deal as long as I keep it free of air pockets, that's the major problem with it. I usually sand out any imperfections after each layer. I'm sure 15 layers of glass will be near bullet proof...right?

A buddy of mine suggests I do it up in a sealed box which I'm hoping to avoid. But as you can see from the pics of my trunk I don't have a lot of room to work with, I've done a rough estimate and I could probably get around 6 cubic feet out of a box.

I'm still pretty new to the audio world so I pretty much went along with my buddy, I'm still contemplating a port. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not looking at stripping the interior. I use this thing as my daily.

Yeah the joints weren't a big deal, I had to go out and buy a table saw though. It was on my list of things to do anyways so I figured why not.

Nobody wants to hear your opinion.

I'm sure everyone's thinking it... You're a ***. hope you're enjoying the homosexual lifestyle you've chosen.

you getting rid of those old HX2's?
Already sold, guy came by the other day and took off my hands for $150 no questions asked.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

btw nice work but build that up to 1/2in to 3/8in thickness and love the wood work with the joints
The box is nowhere near completion, I went out and spent $150 on glass today, I'm going to prob end up building up the bottom to 1" thick. And the sides of the box will be mdfed 2 layers of 3/4" and braced every which way. The joints were kinda a ***** cause I had to go out and buy a table saw and a dado set.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

So it's been a few weeks since my last update, so I figured it's time to bump this thread, here are some pictures of some recent work I did and some more audio goodies that arrived in the last little bit.

Mmm, presents. I wonder what it is?

Can't go wrong with Zapco.

350X2 for those of you still wondering.

Another Odyssey battery and some 0 gauge terminals, also got some Knuconcept Konfusion terminals as well that are already on the car.

Here's all the stuff I gotta somehow make room for in the trunk. Don't laugh that little battery puts out 1500 cranking amps.

I've been trying to make appearances at the local shows so this project has been going kinda slow.

All that's left now are some kick *** components for the new amp. If anyone has any they're looking to get rid of PM me.

nice work so far m8

I don't know, I get headaches for days if I spend more than 5 hours on it.

I also have to do about 8 layers so I'm not too keen on doing them all at once, not to mention I still have a few more pieces to cut out of mdf, and still need to design a port //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i so tired, everytime i see the title i see "small box, big tits"...heh
Don't worry, next time I post pics it will be something worth looking at. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
