slaving amps together

I hooked up a 1200w viper directed amp to two 12" kicker L7's. It didn't hit like I thought it would but sounds good. I think the woofers can handle more power. Should I get a bigger amp, or get another amp about 300w-500w and slave it to the 1200w. Which would be cheapeast. How do I slave the two amps if I go that route?

Also, Is it possible that I don't have enough air flow in my 06' impala for this to sound good.? I have heard systems sound louder with half the power.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
