size difference 10 vs 12

Whats the box size difference between 2 10's and 1 12. Is there a big difference or not. I think there is but my friend today told me that 2 10's is just as small is 1 12. Also would 2 10's put out more spl than 1 12?

Completely dependent on the type of subwoofer/type of box/goal of the stereo....

All these questions have unattainable answers...Varies from sub to sub, how much power, the vehicle, etc...The variables are infinite...

Assuming that we are talking about subwoofers from the same series, with roughly the same xmax, and in the same alignments, the pair of 10s will displace about 33% more air.

They will also put out more power for any given power level than a single 12 of the same series, given the same alignment.
