Looking to build an enlcosure for a single American Bass XFL 1222. Max dimensions are 40"Lx18"Wx14"H. That is a tight fit with a dual prefab enclosure. This will be pushed by a SoundQubed Q1-1200D. I pulled the specs for the XFL and recommendations I have seen ina few posts online. This being 2.2cu ft @ 33Hz. Is this acceptable? Suggestions?

It wouldn't hurt to add 45s in all the corners, but the most important one is in the port bend.

As far as bracing goes use 1 1/4 inch dowels. 2 to tie the top and bottom pieces together and 2 front to back.

While you're at it I would make the port a little wider too. That will require adding length to the port to keep the same tune. When you do that you'll have to increase the box dimensions so the volume stays the same too.

I changed the port to 2-1/8" which makes it ~23.75" in length.

As for the 45* if I want them to be 1.5" to calculate the wedge volume it would be:

  • 1.5x1.5x12.5 = 28.125
  • 28.125 / 2 = 14.0625
  • 14.0625 / 1728 = 0.008

I would have five of them so:

  • 0.008x5=0.04 cu ft.
That is pretty negligable. Does it need to be calculated into the net volume? Same for the dowels?

Changes of port dimensions and added .04 cu ft can be found here: https://subbox.pro/en/b/Qxs1dfmIP
