Hi, guys

I just bought two Polk Audio DXi124 DVC 12" with two 12" dual ported box from bestbuy.

Polk Audio - 12" Dual-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofer - Black

Fierce Audio - XED 12" Dual Ported Subwoofer Enclosure

from bestbuy

here is the question,

my car is a tiny civic, do i really need to use two 12" sub?

Option 1:

Sell the extra Sub and the two boxes,

then use the money to buy an amp.

Option 2:

Sell one box, then buy a a decent amp to run the two sub.

any suggestion?

Thanks!!

Sorry guys, posted on the wrong place.

I saw that deal on slickdeals the other day, they are doing the same thing with kicker comps too.

Keep the subs and sell both of the boxes. Those boxes are garbage and wont sound good. That Polk is more sq than spl oriented and will perform well in a low tuned ported box. The boxes that it came with have cheap construction and a peaky narrow bandwidth response and serve only to get loud for cheap with absolute disregard for sound quality. Have a custom box built or do it yourself and they will sound much better than they ever would in those crappy prefabs.

Kushy_dreams is Completely correct, A custom box will make it sound MUCH better... If you have heard your friends systems or people driving by... A store bought prefab is likely what they are running. And honestly a SINGLE 12" would be far far louder. I Could design you a box, I am some what new at it. But I can guarantee you if you got it built, or built it yourself... It would sound 10x better.

This is true, A very wallet friendly amp that WILL do rated power is an Audiopipe... There are a few different ones. I am speaking of the one that is black with a large silver pipe on the front. They sell one that is called an Audiopipe 1000.1D And it would do you perfectly! I believe it only costs 120 bucks on VMinnovations website.

Make sure you have a custom ported box made for that sub if you are only using 1. I just recently read somehwere that sealed boxes rob something like 60% of output, makes sense if you have ever heard the same sub in a variety of enclosure types and sizes.

Yes, that is VMinnovations and they have just located themselves on Ebay to sell more =p

That amp will do 600RMS at 4 ohms and 1500RMS at 1 ohm This is plenty of power to push both subs

just be very careful with the gain knob. Keep it nice and turned down for a clean signal.
