Hey guys, I was just wondering if this is going to be a good match. I have one 12" 9500 and will be running it with the 1501D which is rated at 1500 rms @ 2 ohms.

Although I don't think it will, I just wanted to make sure this isn't going to be too much power for this sub.

It's going to be my daily sub and I'm not trying to hit a certain db or anything, just a pretty decent SQL system. Thanks in advance.

Yup, that's a pretty good match. Make sure you get the Dual 2 9512 because the 1501D is rated 1500@1ohm, and 1000@2. If you don't get the d2 sub, you will have to run it at 2 ohms and won't get the full power out of the amp. Just set your gains carefully, and you should be fine.

that amp is 2 ohm stable. not 1 ohm

i had this exact setup. it'll work fine. i have the d4 sub (to get to 2 ohms)

x2, good match IMO, sounded pretty good in your car. The Type X sounds alot better though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'd try to get a ZX1500 kicker if it is a dual 4 ohm sub.
1501D>zx1500

that mtx is a beast. very under rated, and can make TONs of power if you know what you're doing

just curious if you've tested the mtx 1501d vs the kicker zx1500.1? i know the kicker is a very very strong amp too.

Also the older 1501d's are 2 ohms stable and the new ones are 1 ohms stable. Put a pic up so we can tell which one it is

I've had a few 1501-81000-1000ds, which are pretty much the same amp. My boy had 2 zx1500s on 2 L7s. The Kickers would not play @1ohm, but all of the MTXs I had would play daily@1ohm. These amps are tanks where as the Kickers are a little less durable. Both are good amps, but you can't beat the build quality of those MTXs

this amp will do 12v, 14.4v, 16v, 18v (probably) and i've heard folks dropping it to .25ohm (this is with a mod, and the electrical to back it)

i doubt the kicker amp can hold a candle to that

well seeing how the kicker is a 2 ohms stable amp it actually can burp at 0.35. You can run them daily at 1 ohm and get around 2400 watts. At 0.5 ohms you can get around 3000 watts but not recommended for daily. These numbers were taken from a few team kicker members who did the tests. Also i've spoken to a few kicker reps who said that these zx amps are one of the best amps kicker ever made, including the older zr series. I guess not too shabby either

not bad, not bad.
these zx amps are very powerful and durable. I used to have a mtx 6500d and loved it. Good to see some older amp companies still making solid products. I still have a mtx 2300w(white with chrome letters) sitting in my room. That amp was made in 1995

maybe i should have taken this to pm's.

OP do you have the older amp or the newer version
