single cab S-10 build help? please?

Hey everyone, what I have is an Alpine Type R 12, the dual 4ohm version, powered by a cheap Pioneer deck and an Orion HCCA-D1200. I had it in my last vehicle in a large ported box, but said large ported box won't remotely fit in my single cab S-10.

So, the plan is to create a sealed box to go behind the seats. Thing is, I want some legroom. The current idea is, to make a long skinny box, say 48" wide by 18" high by 3" deep, and reverse mount the sub in the middle in between the bucket seats.

Is this a bad idea? If so, why?

Thanks for the help, and if anyone has better ideas, I'm all ears. No blowthrough setups though, I'm not cutting up the only rust free cab I found.

I take it, you are wanting to keep using that 12" type R?

It will be a challenge to be able to use that sub and keep leg room, imo.

also, there is the rear brace that runs across the cab at 12" high that sticks out approx. 1.5" that you will have to work around.

oh... its an '84 S-10, so there's no brace...
