single 2ohm sub wiring,2 channel mono block.

Alright. building a mini system for my 14 y/o brother. Im 26. Back say 8 years ago i remembered this stuff...now between life and stuff ive forgot it all..

So. From what i got left in my lil brain......

Looking at a 2ohm dvc alpine type r. Using a prefab single 1.2 sealed box.

The amp? a mono block from what? Whoppin sony.....

Sony XM-D9001GTR Mono subwoofer amplifier 900 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

Worked good last time i used it...

My problem is the Impedance.

I cant remember for **** how to wire the sub. this amps rated at 900 rms @ 2 ohms. Sub is around 1k?

So,900 rms at 2 ohm sub......amp is 2 channel.....1 single sub...help me out...talk to me a lil stupid as i feel this stupid typing this much LOL. thank you. even though i got caught up in life maybe my bro will enjoy this.

A lot of monos have two speaker outputs, that doesn't make them a 2 ch.

Being a D2, the sub can be wired for either 1 or 4 ohms. The amp, not being 1 ohm stable, will require you to wire for 4.

Like so:

Hit the nail on the head.

If the amp you linked is the one you have then you're better off wiring in series for 4 ohms. Not only is the amp not stable at one, I'm pretty sure the Type Rs can handle 500W RMS and the sony already does 550W @ 4 (900W @ 2). If you use two of those dual 2 subs you can wire to 2 ohm final and the two subs can share the 900W.

If it's a mono amp there's only one channel. Many monoblock amps have multiple terminals that all go to the same place on the other side (+ to + and - to -). There's two sets so you have more room to secure wires.

The new xplods are junk, but those old ones were legit. That thing has 90A in fusing, so I'm sure it makes what it says it does.
