Well guys I am at frustrated with my car's bass issues as of late. I want to go with 1 12" sub powered by my Alpine MRP M-650 amp capable of 650 watts at 2ohm.

What sub would you guys recommend that will get loud off of 650 watts and sound good while doing it? I don't want to spend a lot and would go for a used sub if needed. Also my trunk is pretty small, 2006 GTO and I have the gas tank to go through.

I was thinking about going with a ported enclosure with an Alpine Type-R, I know they are not favored much here but would it get the job done? Thanks!

Once again...anything will sound good in the right box.
I have friends with BTLs and SA-12s who wish their subs could hit the lows and have the SQ mine do. I have $50 RE RE 12's.
Its all about the enclosure.

My first sub ever was a walmart Dual brand sub, 175 watts, big fucking peice of 15$ shit, but damnit nigga, i made that thing slam in my car.

I almost got that sub a while back, it will be much louder than the JL 10w3 correct? Also louder than an Alpine Type R?
Incorrect statement.

Any Sub at the same power levels can be louder if put in the proper enclosure. The sub itself is pretty **** loud, and I loved the sound quality of it.
