i personally like the ap amps. And for as bad as everyone says they sound for my tastes they arent as bad as say power acoustik lol. In my opinion they're a great value buy (price to performance)

Since we're on the subject of power/ground size, what do you guys think of those two Brazilian amp companies using a single 1/0 power and ground for 7kw amps, and just two for 12kw amps?

4/0 would obviously be better but 1/0 connectors are already available... and you have to consider the install... a single 20' run of 1/0 for that kind of power is obviously not very good... but IMO its a lot less likely to see a vehicle setup that way then it is with a 20' run of 4awg to a ap1500... (along with the .6V + voltage drop that would go with it)

There are no amps with 4/0 inputs, well maybe in fairyland.

Who said you have to run 4 gauge wire from the front if your amp "only" has a 4 gauge input? Ever heard of distribution blocks?

.2 THD is very high. I'd say .05 is the benchmark for a decent amp. The really high end amps might be somewhere between .02 and .005.

I have never seen a bona fide test of the real power output or THD #'s of any audiopipe amplifier...
I personally find it pretty hard to believe any amp that can be had for $140 will put out 1.5kW of power... but I've never tested one...

With that said 4awg power inputs does seem small to me for an amp rated for that kind of power... IIRC my visonik 900XD (which most regard as a 1500 watt 'budget amp') has 1/0 inputs and would most likely walk all over an AP1500...

that's because the amp isn't very efficient and needs more input current to produce the same power as another amp.

I am running the 2004 in my car right now for an active setup and it sounds like dog ****. get crackles and hums from this and that, and the power supply will give more juice to the tweets or mids if the other isnt playing, gives a pretty uneven response. its loud though.

Become the budget amplifier forum boner? I've read it puts out rated power, but 4 gauge connections for a 1500 watt amp made me lol a little.

this made me lol a lot, you are stupid. very few 1500 watt amps have larger than 4 awg, and if they do its because they are way under rated.

and i lik 4 awg inputs for my 2/0 its snug as fawk.
