Since when did Audiopipe

The 4 gauge part was completely my fault. At the risk of sounding like a moron, I thought that after a certain point RMS wise you HAD to get bigger power and ground wire. I thought the point for 4 gauge to 2 gauge was around 1200ish watts, also factoring in the efficiency and size of the amp.

And you can show me the signal being dirty at rated power? Thanks.
OP, have you ever clamped the current going through a wire to an amp?
By myself no. I've seen it done, most recently was a few weeks ago. I needed to decide between getting a Cadence ZRS 7500D and a DD M2A. A friend who owns a shop showed me the basics of it, what it means and how to accurately read it.

basically what happens is..
someone with a high post count buys a cheap amp.

cheap amp does rated or close to rated power.

Poster with high post count praises the amp/sub/mid/wire/etc

EVERYONE must go buy it because the product was blessed by someone with a high post count.

Im sure we have all ran cheap amps and been surprised by the results.
I know before the old forum boners were the Discus amps. Since those got discontinued, there hasn't been a true forum boner for cheap amps like AP. I've seen AQ and Cadence suggested, but cheap cheap power wise all I've seen is AP.

How are you gonna compare this amp to anything? Its 160$ shipped. Lulz.
Lol true, on eBay the other day some guy was selling some Cadence ZRS-C65s for 185 or BO. I'd rather have that in my limited opinion.

If I remember right the AP1500s and the AP30001D does its rated power @ >1% distortion(or Total Harmonic Distortion/THD), so yes it could be considered a "dirty" amp when compared to another amp that does its rated 1500 or 3000 watts @ 0.05% THD, however at half power both amps would have less THD than your ears can detect. Distortion usually occurs when the solid-state amp is pushed close to its limits and increase as it gets closer.

For example, there are two amps and one does 1000 watts RMS @ 1% THD and another that does 1000 RMS @ 0.002% THD. What does that tell you? The one that does 1000 watts @ 0.002% THD has a more robust power supply and output devices which translate to better reliability & more actual power when pushed to its limits. But these days people are cheap azzez so if the first amp costs $150 and the other costs $500, which one are you going to buy?

^^^oh and super-low distortion rating is why old-school US Amps are so desirable... and expensive.

Value-wise you can't beat the AP. I have one and the only complaint I have is the looks... it's neither pleasing or interesting, it's not ugly but meh.

That and it's too long and the only reason why it's so long is because AP wants to save money/be lazy and just bolted two AP1500 together and call that a new amp.

The AP1500 should almost just be classified by it price alone. If there's a another $140 (current VMI price with coupon) BNIB D-class mono out there (which there are plenty) well that's what it should be compared too, not some thing that costs more. It's just a $140 amp that has a particular output capability. If you're looking for X output from you subs and your budget is $140 and the AP1500 does X within distortion limits that you feel are acceptable, well there ya go.
