My 4.3 liter single-cab short-bed 05' model would chirp 3rd gear hard. Fast as hell to 50 mph.

The 2.8 carb models were crap. I had a 84' with a 4 speed. Tore the bearing out in 2 engines in less than 6 months. The 2.8 fuel injected werer much harder to kill.
