Silverado install question!!

I have an 07 Chevy Silverado LTZ (new body style), I am looking to install a Pioneer AVH-P4200Dvd. I want to retain the bose, the onstar, factory chimes, etc, and the steering wheel controls. Are these parts all that are required, other than a mounting kit to make that work?

Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface (Black)

Metra 40-GM10 GM Antenna Adapter

Axxess GMOS-04 Class II OnStar® Interface for Amplified Systems

Also any opinions on any other better products would be great. Looking for reliability and ease of install. Thanks for the help guys

I got an 05 tahoe. But double din is double din, so i bought this one dash kit but it wasn't big enough to clear the tilt function for 4200dvd. So went ahead and bought another kit from scosche and it works perfectly. 1992-up General Motors Double DIN Kit with trim ring / ISO

As for steering wheel control, I bought PAC swi-ps. Install was easy. Their website has very detailed instructions with pics. I highly suggest PAC.

Good luck to ya.

mine had one axxess that covered my door chimes and my onstar. i dont have steering when controls. and it was like 80 bucks.. btw i have a HO alt for that truck if you ever need one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

This is probably an obviously answered question, but instead of buying the ipod cable for the pioneer avh-p4200dvd, can I just use the usb/ipod cable that came with my ipod to hook it up to the computer? I have acquired a few of these cables somehow and it would be nice to save a couple bucks if that works. If anyone has tried this let me know thank you

You'll be fine with your typical ipod usb cable.

Awesome, thank for the help. I have 2 more questions. I am having a hard time finding a mounting kit for the LTZ dash, everything i find says it wont fit on a new body style silverado with the ltz dash. If anyone has a link or a part number to one that would be great. And also does anyone know if the wiring harness "Axxess GMOS-04 Class II OnStar® Interface for Amplified Systems" along with the head unit will allow for the rear stereo controls to still work? or will that not be functioning anymore once I install the dvd player?

The Axxess GMOS-04 is great, but for the steering wheel I would go with the PAC audio for pioneer. For the dash kit check out Metra.com, but I will go ahead and tell you the 4200 rises when it tilts, you we had to sand down the trim ring on mine until it fit. I may be wrong but I am 99% sure your rear controls will no longer work, and I don't know of a way to retain those.

Civic Gti, do you have that problem with the trim ring not fitting in a new body style silverado? Or what kind of vehicle was it? As long as the unit does not sit down in the dash I do not think there will be a clearance issue, the stock radio is not set in to the dash at all, it mounts flush. As long as the mounting kit doesnt make it sit down in the dash it should be ok i think
