I'm getting my Silver Flutes on monday and was just wondering if they will sound better in a sealed enclosure or just straight into the car door? im guessing straight in the car door will be fine. thanks

Straight from Madisound:

Box Rec.: 6 liters vented 1.5" Øx 5.5"L

I've been using those for about 4 months now and love them. I believe they would be a bit happier in the door cavity, but I have mine in a sealed pod. It's the best $30 (per) I've spent.

what is a rock band //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif we got a drummer...and silver flutes

Yeah i think i will just leave the door ported. Quick question about crossovers tho, i ordered the Silver Flutes 6.5 4ohms and the Vifa NE25VTS-04 tweeter (https://www.madisound.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=45_229_324&products_id=8814). Which passive crossover shall i get as i will be bridging my 4 channel amp into 2 channels to get 120 rms to each side instead of the 50 rms to each speaker. I had these two in mind

SATNET 450 CDT AUDIO 2-WAY SPEAKERS CROSSOVERS PAIR SET - eBay (item 110576202073 end time Oct-19-10 18:22:26 PDT)

or

BOSTON ACOUSTICS RC51X COMPONENT PASSIVE CROSSOVERS - eBay (item 290481061739 end time Oct-27-10 15:40:11 PDT)

I just dont want to blow the tweeter by crossing them too low. The SATNET crossovers say they cross at 4.3 khz but the boston crossover does not list its crossover frequency.

Thanks

You wont gain anything by going passive. In this case you would break even but for the $$ spent on a passive network and the loss of control over each individual speaker. A general rule of thumb is that in a passive network for each order the slope, it's a 5% loss in power.

Example: 100 watts to a 2nd order passive would yield a 10 watt loss, a 4th order passive would yield a 20 watt loss, so in your case, 120 watts 2nd order = 108 watts, 120 watts 4th order = 96 watts.

By saving the $$ spent on a passive network and just going active you wont notice any difference in output, but for your wallets.

I'd just do 50 x 4 and have the control/flexibility that I'd rather have, but that's just me.....

Yeah i think your right plus i would be worried about sending my tweeter 120 watts. Okay so if i go active which crossover would you recommend? I really dont want to spend more then $35-40
