You are a disturbed person. I also am atheist and I don't believe in those holidays, but to see such joy on a kids face on any holiday will shut you up right quick.

Also nothing wrong with spending time with family.

I think your parents either didn't spend enough time with you, or you just are that big of an arsehole!

if there was any real proof that jesus christ was the son of god and not just some crazy whacko like all the other whackos that claim they are the son of god i might be a little more respectful.... hell if there was proof i would believe.
but there isnt so to me jesus christ isnt any better than elron hubbard or all the other guys weve called crazy for starting cults. your opinion is to believe, mine is to not believe. to each his own.

I don't celebrate any of these holidays anymore. Believe it or not, you don't need to make up an imaginary figure to be happy and have fun.

Meh, I feel if your a grown man and you have no kids, then do what you want.

I will raise my kids to believe in these imaginary figures as that is how I was raised and it gives them hope in such a shitty world. They have plenty of time to be grown up later in life. I so miss being a kid and beliving in this things. Was so simple and now it is the grind stone, bills, going to bed early and the only thing that puts a smile on my face is my wife and kids and making them happy..........and sometimes my stereo setup, when it isn't being a bish, lol!

Okay, first off, I read parts of other threads bashing religion and evolution and such. I felt like I needed some insight anyway.
So I'm an Atheist/Anti-theist. You have the right to celebrate whatever religion you'd like. I can respect that right. . . as an American, but also as a human being. On the other hand I can't really understand it. It seems crazy to me (and you absolutely may disagree) that people dedicate so much of their time to something that does not exist. It'd be like me claiming that some little blue-skinned people inhabit my back yard. There's no way around it. They don't and he doesn't. I get that it's "faith" that carries religion along its way. What's the point of having faith in something non-existent? Seems wasteful to me. There are so many real causes in the world that need more dedication.

Secondly, why do people lie to children? Santa exists? No. The Easter Bunny? The Tooth Fairy. No and no. So why do we tell children that they do? Why not fill the heads of children from a young age the truth about the world? People are hungry. Help them. People are wasteful, don't be. People are greedy. Don't be. . . which includes expecting gifts for Holidays based on disillusion. I don't have kids yet, but mine will not be lied to. At least that's what I say when my fiance isn't arguing with me about it.

Why must we support corporate greed and lies based on tradition? I guess I just needed to vent. I'm sure I could go on and on.

Thanks for any thoughtful comments you may add. No reason to just make vicious attacks. . .

Agnosticism answers the epistemological question, but not the theological one. I'm agnostic as well, but I'm also atheist. This is a common misunderstanding amongst agnostics.
