:fyi:If you dont even know how to build a box please dont purchase a Mag and try and wing it. Get someone else to build it for you or start with something else. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

^^^ agree

boxes can make a world of difference in the SQ and spl, depending on how you build it.

Actually i have to disagree the mag is one of the most abuse tolerant designs ive fooled with. Me and loyd have tried and tried, but we have yet to bottom them out.
Then you **** at life.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I had no problem sealed. I dont have enough power to do it ported...and I'm not really looking to try.

Which ones do you have? Newer ones will meet the backplate first, older ones the spider will meet the top plate so perhaps you dont hear it? By the time Mag's bottom out it's probably too loud to hear the spider slapping the top plate. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Oh I'm sorry. I only own two Mag 15's and Nick, who kind of owns the company, stated exactly what I did on SSA in SI's official forum. Oh and that fact where I HAVE bottomed my Mag out. Coil to backplate, not spider to top plate. Sealed 2.6cuft with an MD2D newer version of the latest generation.

kthxbi.

PS

Why so deffensive? Jebus.

Incase he didnt notice I did ask him what Modle Mag they had of the new generation. If it was the ones with a bottomless design then he would be correct. But of course in his eyes I wouldnt know anything, no matter how correct. I could tell him the stove was hot when I touched it and he would likely say "Dumbass" or perhaps "Im sorry you know so much about hot things."

Anyway...

Nick said it himself. The orignial new gen Mag's where "bottomless" ie, the suspension was the limiting factor. He later changed the design so that it would bottom out just before the suspension reached it's limit because metal on metal is a better sign to back the volume off than treated cloth on metal.

Then I will tell you that I bottomed my Mag out when it was sealed. Well not me, but over head power > The Girl. After that I controlled the volume knob. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I would like to see where I said that the newest generation Mag's were bottomless, because they aren't. The previous (1'st, 2'nd, and the very few 3'rd gen) were "bottomless" but that just meant that the spiders would smack the tp before the coil met the backplate.

You can bottom out our drivers. The coil smacking the backplate is a LOT louder of a warning than the suspension, so the user can hear it better and learn not to push it as hard.

...and you two stop your b!tching. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Play nice with Chad, he knows a thing or two.

BTW: the name of our big-boy drivers is Mag, not Magnum. We can't use "Magnum" anymore. You can thank MTX's parent owner MITEK for that one. They were mad because we were degrading their other comapany's rugged/outdoor subwoofer enclosures names by using the word "Magnum". ...yyeeeaaahhhh, go figure.

Ghey. Was "Magnum" used by you before that enclosure even existed? I cant find much about it on the vastness of the internets.

That's almost as bad as Monster Cable's endevours to remove the letter M from all things audio. Soon the Mag will be the ag... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

To our knowledge they were not using at the time that we used it. They did, however, have the name protected for ALL things audio (odd...seeing as how Emminence -one of the worlds larges spkr mfg's- has a full line called Magnum now).

...crap like that makes me think of a phrase from Fight Club: "When intersellar exploration ramps up, it'll be the large corporations that name everything - Planet Starbucks, the Microsoft Galaxy."
