SI Mag Ported v. Sealed

Im looking to do a much cleaner install on my next system. I have everything planned out and just need to start purchasing equipment as money comes in. For the sub, Im going to glass the back right portion in the cargo area. Just using my exterior dimensions, I can get around 2.5 cubes net. Im looking at a 12" Mag and wondering the differences of it sealed and ported. I can squeeze out some more if I decide to port it. Ported will probably be done with 4" port or two 3".

My 15 is in 2.5ft^3 sealed..it is simply amazing, I havn't tried ported yet though.

Im also open for suggestions of subs that will perform well in the 2.0-2.5 box range.

I really like mine ported, I have run the sub in both and really like the extra output with ported. You do not lose hardly any SQ and the box is not too much bigger.

1 12" Sealed is all I really need in my truck.

1-1.5 cubes is all it will need.

1.5 cubes @ 32hz with 23sq.in. of port

or

2 cubes @ 28hz with 30sq.in. of port (best of SQ and output)

How big is the difference in ported and sealed on a Mag? I had the older Gen 2 15" version ported 3.5 net at 30 hz off of 1200 watts. Also its going in a 97 Expedition on 1000-1200 watts.

But sealed, the mag will hold its own to almost any sub in its class.

I guess I can take up a bit more space and squeeze 2 cubes with 30 sq. in. of port. I just dont want to put it behind the seats because then them folding down benefits me none.

Run it sealed first...you may not even want to port it. and it will save you some room.

I guess I can make the sealed box out of wood first to see if Im content then fiberglass it if so.

He is right, ported in the right box it is easily twice as loud if not more to the ear.

I barely pushed the 12 is a 2.0 cube @ 27hz box and it was flat out crystal clear

I think Denim was sending it 5-600 watts...I cant remember.
