Shiva Tuning Question

Well since I already have a type R I pretty much know what sound I want out of my subs. I was looking at buy two Shivas and putting them in 2.5cubes a piece ported to 29Hz. I was looking on adireaudio and they suggest porting as low as 20Hz in a 3cube enclosure. So if I have 2.5cubes could I go lower than 29Hz and still have amazing spl? Also many people said that 600rms on one shiva was a bad idea but it says its rms is 650 to reach pmax.

Is that just for sealed enclosures because if I can put that much on a ported I might build a single 5.0 cube box tuned to 18Hz.

This is really strange because a person's hearing goes only to 20Hz so in theory would you feel it and not hear it or what? Just check out that link and look at the tuning of the ported boxes near the bottom and try and explain some of this to me.

Shiva won't have amazing SPL at any tuning, it is primarily a SQ driver. Tuning to 29 hz will yield very nice SQ, though.

If i buy two shivas from a dealer in Gainsville Florida this summer are they going to be $125 a piece or is the dealer going to jack up the price? Should I just buy them from the online store?

I just pm'd Jlaine and told him what i've told you so maybe he can help. so what about my question, how much better spl does a shiva have than a Type R? will the shiva get down a low on the Frequency? I think that since I tuned my Type R in a 1.33 cube box at 33Hz that it peaks really bad. I want louder bass for rap and more low down. Something that you can really feel. Type R is a good sub just not exactly what i want. My hearing is getting used to it and now it doesnt seem as loud or as low as it used to be.

You want to tune the box higher for greater spl. Tuning lower gives you better sq. Low 30's for daily driving high 40's for spl comps.
