ok so today i was listenin to my stuff and it got quiet all the sudden, i was like wtf? so i went home and check my sub with dmm and it read 1.4 each coil (this sub is .7 voice coils)

i want to know how i shifted the coils on this sub at such low power? ive heard of it happen with a ton of power and some compression issues but i was only running like 1500 rms. what gives?

You didn't shift the coils.

You popped 2 of the coils.

Let me explain. Dual .7 ohm coils are in reality quad 1.4 coils with 2 of the coils wired in parallel internally, hence dual .7.

You popped 2 of the 4 coils, which is why it reads 1.4 ohms on both sides. The same thing happened to my buddies MT.

Recone time.

Just because they look fine doesn't mean they are fine.

I have two blown DD cones in my garage that "look fine", but put a DMM on them and they don't read anything.

You popped 2 of the coils.
