shallow mount subs

I plan to do an install in the trunk of my small coupe and would like it to be as compact as possible. Shallow mount subs seem pretty cool but do they perform as well? I was considering either

does anyone have any preference or other suggestions? Also does anyone know if they perform and hit as hard as other depth subs? I know everyone will ask what amp im going to use but i wasnt sure of that either, any suggestions would be great. The price range is about 400 total if thats even possible to get a decent setup with. I have a lil bit more money to play with if needed but i dont need much. I think my last amp was a 600 watt old kenwood and did just fine for me with some cheap *** xtreme subs. So for me the setup doesnt have to be toooo high end but since that one was in an old cavalier and this one going into a newish (Still cheap) benz, i want it to sound good and not have to feel to embarassed to say what it is. My friend recommended something by JL or memphis, but seems kinda pricey. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

What is the power handling gonna be on these?

I saw that they were gonna be SVC and DVC, will they all be 4 ohm VCs?
