seXXX > SX?!?

THE WHOLE THING!!!
I just picked up a 10" SX to "replace" my old, and worn 10" seXXX. Now, i've been using two eD nine.1's for competition, and only turn it up to the point where there is no clipping/bottoming out.

Supposedly the SX can take the power better than the seXXX, seeing as it has a better motor structure and a stiffer suspension. Now what boggles me is that i can't play the SX as loud as the seXXX!!!!

I played with both subs today, and in the same box, the same power, and playing the loudest note for each sub, these are the scores i came up with (SX ran first)

SX: 147.0 @4x hz (can't remember the exact note)

seXXX: 148.1 @ 44-45 hz

Please help me with this. It's really frustrating. How the hell is my old *** seXXX beating up a nice, freshly reconed SX?

maybe u needa give the sx time to loosen up (break in). or maybe the box isnt the best for the sx. those are 2 things i can think of rite now
I'm going to try a smaller box (half the size) and see if that solves anything. Trust me, it's not a breaking in problem. It's a "i can't take the power" problem. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I agree, I don't think breakin will limit max SPL just how it sounds, the smaller box seems a better route IMO.

I would imagine they need different boxes... Because the SX should get louder than a XXX with SE soft parts, maybe the Sx needs a bigger or smaller box, because they would both probably not do the same or equally well in that box.... But you already found that out

Actually, its an SE with XXX soft parts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I threw it in the 1 cube box just to mess around with, but it's hard to tell if its louder or not. Once it gets up to a certain point, it all sounds the same. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lil offtopic but.. when u got ur SE turned into an seXXX, how much of an improvent was there? oh and how much did it cost? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Well, they don't make seXXX's anymore, the new motor doesn't allow it.

But there was DEFINITELY an increase in SPL, and I honestly think it sounds/sounded better than my SE did.
