hell, just take the leap, get citizenship, work and make just enough to have a place and eat soup and crackers. live on the street if you have too. you think im crazy, but i gaurentee you i can get a great job 10x quicker then ANY of the frat boys in the town. just give me a week and one day of feeling great.

haha, its kind of a funny story. i had been begging my dad for a job for years. he figured i was a total fuckup since i never maintained a grade average above .5 (although i did maintain a 3.33 my first year of college). Anyway after talking to one of his workers (he owns a construction company, a landscaping company, used to own a tiling company before he liquidated it, an electricians outfit, and a little realestate outfit iirc) who ran the tiling company. Anyway he happened to be one of the best in the midwest (he has work in plenty of journals) after talking to him enough he was convinced that my dad was wrong and i really was worth a shit. I had a job the next day. My dad was bitter as shit haha! Anyway he taught me trial by fire, which in my opinion is the best way to learn. So i learned working on 20 million dollar houses, which in cali would be worth 60+ (its all to do with location location location) just as a frame for reference. Anyway im not going to lie. the first few weeks were hell, my body had never been so beatup (even through boxing, i was down to 140 and having to carry two 80lb buckets everywhere as training. Eventually i made my way to apprentace and was taught how to plan things out and lay properly with marble, granite slate etc. etc. (my spelling is horrible right now sorry im so tired!). Basically i learned how to do the best, from the best. I have amazing attention to detail and never give up, i also never accept less. This enables me to be great at any profession. (i know alot of you hold the same values).
Anyway after a few months of that i moved to goto school. I came back, was talking to him about a job then decided that i would just do it all on my own. Take all the profits, and all the responsibility. It worked out great.

Guys, you can do anything you put your minds though. Everyone says owning a business is tough! the toughest part is actually doing it. Motiviating yourself every morning and not listening to what all the nay sayers say. Everyone is going to be pushing against you. You have to be willing to push against. Once you've done that you're setup and its time to do something different and really change the market. I would post a better post.. but im just so exhausted. I get about 2-4 hours of sleep a night, so at 4, i just dont have much to offer. sorry!

Awesome, I really give you credit for just pushing ahead with your life. You have a great amount of ambition, something I wish I had.

My parents own a restaurant, and I've been helping them out here and there ever since I was little. Do you think it would be a good idea just to take the restaurant over?

How well do you know this young lady? I understand you want to impress her and all, but if you're moving, is it worth all the time and effort of going way over the top? I'd call it quits after the nice dinner, maybe a movie and a couple drinks.

First off grats on getting as far as you have in life.

As for the girl, just do whats always worked for you. Just because you actually like this one specific one doesnt mean you need to go about it with a different approach. Bottom line is focus on the fun and your alright. Then again you already knew that didnt you.

Ha, let this be a lesson to you kids. Eugenics may very well be the most intelligent member of this forum. IMO he is definitely the wittiest and most creative. And yet he had poor grades at least for a period (and even a 3.33 is way below his potential). Why? My guess would be boredom although a temporary case of the lazy *** would not be out of the question. In any case, if he applied himself he would have had a 4.0. "Smartitude" does not necessarily = good grades.

Now young man, you get back in the classroom and make us proud. Actually, unless you decide to get an advanced degree, I would not recommend going back to school. As you know, you can make a ton of money in the construction business. My old college roommate is a residential general contractor and he makes plenty of money. At the same time he is pretty much able to do what he wants when he wants.

I failed 6th grade and got very close all of middle school... and my mom said the same exact thing to me. It all made sense, and she told me how happy she would be if I took more challenging classes and see how it turned out. Switched into all honors classes and my GPA last report card was above a 4. Just thought I'd share my little story.

I am absolutely serious. Some of his postings may appear to be retarded but in fact they are quite witty. Perception depends on the viewer's own intelligence level and sense of humor. Another member that I think is probably pretty intelligent that might surprise you -- Cleanrupper. (either that are he really is twisted //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ). Some others that I think are pretty **** witty -- slammed, devillian, iceteebone. This is not a comprehensive list - just some that come to mind.
