Serious Conversation with "Good Guys" on the forum

I own a tiling company, and wait tables at a nice club/restraunt (its a club and a restraunt attached. used to be a movie theater... i make a good 200 a night when things are going well at the club, and 3-5k a week tiling) i have put the tiling on hold as i am moving, but still wait tables/serve drinks as it is good quick money consdering it only takes me a few hours a night.

dam, how'd you come up so fast?

i dropped out when i was a sophmore in highschool, started college right then. i've been reading fortune ever since i was 15.. and my father has owned several construction companys. Although he has never helped me or trained me i've kind of been groomed to run businesses, especially construction companys.

So if you are moving, why put so much into this date? Just wondering

I move constantly, and i never know when im going to move. I figure that nothing good ever came easy. So if this dosen't work out, it wont be because i moved, it will be because i didn't try hard enough. and if that is why i fail. i can't accept that. if it is meant to work. it will. and it wont be my fauilt if it fails. im not good at failing.

why not just do somethign you know shes ino, i mean if you like her so much im sure you know what shes into. maybe a local band or somethign that she really likes or somethign like that

this weekend if it dosen't fall through. if it does then i wont be caught off guard. i have a general instinct not to trust anyone at any costs. specially women. sounds ****edup i know.

Wow. How did you get started with the tiling thing?

haha, its kind of a funny story. i had been begging my dad for a job for years. he figured i was a total fuckup since i never maintained a grade average above .5 (although i did maintain a 3.33 my first year of college). Anyway after talking to one of his workers (he owns a construction company, a landscaping company, used to own a tiling company before he liquidated it, an electricians outfit, and a little realestate outfit iirc) who ran the tiling company. Anyway he happened to be one of the best in the midwest (he has work in plenty of journals) after talking to him enough he was convinced that my dad was wrong and i really was worth a shit. I had a job the next day. My dad was bitter as shit haha! Anyway he taught me trial by fire, which in my opinion is the best way to learn. So i learned working on 20 million dollar houses, which in cali would be worth 60+ (its all to do with location location location) just as a frame for reference. Anyway im not going to lie. the first few weeks were hell, my body had never been so beatup (even through boxing, i was down to 140 and having to carry two 80lb buckets everywhere as training. Eventually i made my way to apprentace and was taught how to plan things out and lay properly with marble, granite slate etc. etc. (my spelling is horrible right now sorry im so tired!). Basically i learned how to do the best, from the best. I have amazing attention to detail and never give up, i also never accept less. This enables me to be great at any profession. (i know alot of you hold the same values).

Anyway after a few months of that i moved to goto school. I came back, was talking to him about a job then decided that i would just do it all on my own. Take all the profits, and all the responsibility. It worked out great.

Guys, you can do anything you put your minds though. Everyone says owning a business is tough! the toughest part is actually doing it. Motiviating yourself every morning and not listening to what all the nay sayers say. Everyone is going to be pushing against you. You have to be willing to push against. Once you've done that you're setup and its time to do something different and really change the market. I would post a better post.. but im just so exhausted. I get about 2-4 hours of sleep a night, so at 4, i just dont have much to offer. sorry!

honestly, i dont know her that well. you know when you meet someone and you just know that you like them? thats what this is.

thats only if you get a good contract. construction is sketcy. because you never know when you're going to be backed up, or begging for buisness. thats why you gotta try and be or get signed onto a parent company.

i dont know yet, Spain or portland. i have my different reasons for each.
